My First Day in School
Just like any other student, I am unable to forget my first day in school. Although I was big enough to start my schooling, I developed some terrible feelings because I was in a different environment as compared to our home that I have been used to since my birth. Despite having developed some fear and anxiety, I gained the courage to be accompanied by my father to school. The idea of me joining school was from my mother. Although I felt that she was heartless by forcing me to join schooling, but I later realized that her main aim was to ensure that I get a better life in the future. My father took me to unknown and strange place to me, a place that I had to call school where every around looked strange. For instance, I had to join my classmates and teachers who were all strangers to me.
My new environment had a single large building surrounded by a high wall that blocked us from seeing outside the school compound. Although I felt nervous fitting within my new environment, I was impressed with the surrounding environment which was cool and quite. Before turning his back, my father introduced to me to my head teacher to be, an old man who had happened to be my father’s classmate. After being admitted, I was taken to class my teacher. It is during this time that I felt lonely and cried but through the encouragement from my head teacher, I gain the courage to be with my new friends. After spending around ten minutes in class, our teacher to be came in class for lessons. Being a new student in my class, I was forced to introduce myself. This is the hardest thing that I had to go through on my first day in school. As was the traditions of the class that a new member must introduce him/herself while standing, it was not an easy task to perform. In the process of introducing myself, I became shy and nervous to an extend I forgot my full names. This was an embarrassment as my fellow students laughed at me.
