Student’s Name Professor’s Name Course Date “Doubt” John Patrick Shanley directed the film “Doubt.” The movie was first released in 2008, and it was based on a stage play by the name “Doubt: A Parable.” Just like its title, “Doubt” is an interesting drama that reveals how doubt can lead to adverse consequences for individuals who are misunderstood due to their kind actions toward others, particularly minority groups. The paper uses the strategy of the issue of evaluation to examine and discuss the movie “Doubt.” In particular, the issue of evaluation involves investigating an individual or something to fulfill one’s perceptions or thoughts. Doubt refers to what happens when a person is not sure about the occurrence of something (Orr). In the scenario at hand, it is evident that Sister Aloysius (Meryl Streep), the school’s principal, has doubts about Father Flynn’s (Philip Seymour Hoffman) treatment of Donald Miller, an African American boy, at St. Nicholas Catholic School in the Bronx (Shanley). When it comes to the issue of evaluation, it creates suspense that makes the viewer want to know what happens in the next scene. For sure, Sister Aloysius started doubting Father Flynn after seeing him talking to Donald in the courtyard. At this juncture, the principal did not have evidence of what she was thinking and yet she alerted other nuns to lookout for suspicious activities within the school environment.
