When the course contents invite Scripture to control the students’ lives, students will likely allow Scripture to control all aspects of their lives. Unique experiences in the classroom can result in uniquely Christian experiences of all life. This is possible by ensuring the course contents integrate the Biblical worldview into classroom experiences and interactions. This paper is an opportunity to reflect on my experiences in EFND 706 and advise students entering the class and advanced graduate studies. It also includes how the class has changed and solidified my worldview.
Class Experiences
I have actively participated in EFND 706, where I studied Christian worldviews for educators. This class taught me that the Christian worldview is plausibly based on the Christian perception of reality. Central to the Christian understanding of God is the concept of the Trinity. Christian institutions are increasingly anchored on fundamentally different worldviews from their secular school counterparts (Prior, 2021). EFND 706 comprised an opportunity to reflect Christian worldview by motivating me to sacrifice my time and resources to understand the concepts. In this course, the students were expected to develop and demonstrate a Christian worldview through their attitudes, words, and actions. As I built relationships with teachers and peers, it was crucial to demonstrate and encourage a holistic approach to Christian education where the Christian worldview shaped all aspects of the interactions and school culture, including in the classroom (Prior, 2021). As part of the EFND 706, students were exposed to the Christian worldview across the course content and offered opportunities to cultivate their aptitudes to evaluate the alternative worldviews in their culture critically.
