As the global temperature continues to rise, so does the extent of eco-anxiety, insomnia, and mental health (Boluda-Verdu et al., 2022). Its heightened psychological distress affects mainly those closely in contact with ecological crises, resulting in disturbances of daily functioning and quality of life. Dealing with the mental health consequences of climate change requires understanding these effects to develop strategies for overcoming such impact. Literature Review Contemporary studies disentangle the interplay between environmental anxieties and psychological well-being to explore the cognitive and emotional effects of climate change awareness. Notable is the investigation of anxiety, which involves significant psychological distress associated with raising awareness of climate change and a broad sense of doom that not only threatens personal health but also seeps into societal and behavioral issues to affect environmental ills directly (Orrù & Mannarini, 2024). Further, experimental evidence corroborates that insomnia symptoms and poor self-rated mental health in response to climate-related negative emotions strongly correlate across many demographics and that these psychological responses are global and uniform (Ogunbode et al., 2021). Further, Stewart (2021) attempts to differentiate and measure specific climate-related emotional reactions, such as worry, which has been shown to drive both adaptive and maladaptive behavior about environmental engagement. Using the Climate Change Worry Scale has helped us understand how worry – in contrast to more generalized anxiety or depression – affects how people perceive and respond to climate threats, as well as the view of psychological impacts across different climates and cultures. Moreover, based on their experimental induction of positive and negative emotional states, emotional states have been considered to assess their effect on pro-environmental behavior. While negative emotional inductions lead to immediate action, positive emotional inductions do not always induce pro-environmental behavior, thus implicating the complex role of emotional valence in environmental decision-making (Lange & Dewitte, 2020). Brosch (2021) stresses the importance of using a multidisciplinary approach to address the psychological aspects of climate change. Interventions are proposed that make the immediate emotional impacts and the long-term psychological adaptations necessary to promote individual well-being and collective environmental action. Research Gap, Question, and Hypothesis This research details how climate change awareness has a highly emotional effect on people globally. However, there are still many ...
