OVERVIEW

Understanding and identifying group leader skills is essential. In your growth as a group leader, it is important to be able to identify areas where additional skills may be beneficial for the group. In the Motivational Interviewing Assignments, you will be identifying skills that were utilized and determining new skills you would use if you were the leader.

INSTRUCTIONS

Parts I and II of the template are required be completed for each Motivational Interviewing Assignment due. Note: Students are required to use the template for completion of the assignment. Complete both parts for each module and video that is viewed. Note that this Motivational Interviewing Assignment is worth 150 points total. Thoroughness is important in order to do well.

Part I. As you review the required video, rate the group leader on these skills. Provide comments for why you rated the group leader as you did. There must be at least two complete sentences for each area. If you did not see the group leader display the skill, then note that you did not see this in the video and include two complete sentences regarding why you do not think the skill was used.

Part II. Document and explain where you would utilize some of the skills that you did not see displayed. Note the exact time on the video when you would utilize the skill, state what the skill is, and state why you would use that skill at that specific time. If you are not able to locate any skills that were not used then in this section, you will note when else in the video some of the skills could have been used. Again, note the exact time on the video when you would utilize the skill, state what the skill is, and state why you would use that skill at that specific time.

You must document at least 10 different areas within the video in which you would utilize additional skills.
