Current Data Supporting the Problem Statement
Mental health challenges is a growing concern around the world, with a significant portion of it being the young generation of individuals between adolescence and young adulthood. Adolescence is usually a crucial and critical developmental stage for any individual. It is usually accompanied by rapid physical, emotional and mental changes that can sometimes be quite quick and overwhelming to handle for an individual. Most of the mental health problems in young adults starts at this particular stage. There is a growing body of awareness about the same around the globe, but still much needs to be done to combat it. This is especially so when it comes to harnessing the power and benefits of emerging digital technologies with the possible intervention strategies at hand. If such a gap s bridged, then a lot of progress and gains can be made in the battle against mental health challenges around the globe.
The integration of preventative strategies with digital therapeutic technologies in youth mental health is a gap that current evidence has identified. Studies have shown that mental health disorders mostly occur in adolescence, with Colizzi et al. (2020) reporting that 50 percent of all mental complications manifest before age 14. This early detection is a crucial window for implementing interventions that the current healthcare systems have not fully exploited. According to McGorry et al. (2025), mental illness has become a health burden in teenagers and young adults, with the majority of disorders occurring before age 25. The authors underline that mental disorders during the last 20 years represent a genuine public health crisis. This data highlights the necessity for intervention models that will address the scale and complexity of youth mental health challenges.
