Step 1. Access
Access your updated qualitative research paper from the Module 4 assignment and the Qualitative Research Paper Outline from the Module 1 Learning Objects page.
Step 2. Contact
Using a communication method of your choice, invite five participants from the target population to take part in the research study and answer the questionnaire. Include the email invitation as Appendix C in the final qualitative research paper.
Step 3. Collect
During the e-mail communication (Step 2), collect demographic information on the participants (e.g., age, gender preference, position, years’ experience, other data relevant to the study). Demographic information will be Table 1 in your research paper.
Step 4. Develop
Develop a questionnaire protocol with 10 questions aligned to the research design and research questions. Use the Instrument Question Alignment Table linked on the Learning Objects page. This APA-formatted table will become Table 2 in your research study. Ask at least one colleague familiar with your topic to review and provide feedback on the 10 questionnaire items.
Step 5. Update
Using demographic information, introduce the five participants in your qualitative research study including the research setting using a pseudonym. The setting may be a physical location and/or a virtual meeting platform.
To protect participants’ confidentiality, introduce them with pseudonyms (e.g., Participant A, Participant 1, etc.) Create an APA-formatted table showing their demographic information (e.g., age, gender preference, position, years’ experience, etc.). This will become Table 1 in your research project.
Describe the questionnaire protocol you will use in your study. Include the types of questions you will ask. Include the feedback you received from a colleague on the questionnaire items. The questionnaire protocol with the questions will be an Appendix D in your qualitative research paper.
Step 6. Submit
Submit the Target Population, Sample, and Setting section of your qualitative research paper, the e-mail invitation, Table 1, and Table 2.

The target population for this grounded theory study includes technology professionals who work entirely in virtual environments. These individuals are engaged in remote teams and have direct experience with virtual leadership practices. The population includes employees at different organizational levels who have worked remotely for at least one year and interact with virtual leaders regularly.
Five participants were recruited for the study using purposive sampling. This approach ensures that participants have direct, relevant experience with remote work and leadership in virtual environments, essential for theoretical development in grounded research (Etikan et al., 2015). The inclusion criteria required that participants work in the technology industry, have at least one year of remote work experience, currently work in a fully virtual arrangement, and report to a leader who operates in a virtual capacity.
Interviews will be conducted virtually via Zoom, accommodating participants’ geographical dispersion. This approach aligns with the study’s focus on remote work while leveraging digital tools central to modern workplace communication. The virtual setting further reinforces the relevance of the research, as it mirrors the actual conditions under which remote leadership operates.
