I also interacted with a teacher colleague who demonstrated biased views and perspectives when interacting with students of color and those from economically disadvantaged households. The teacher typically associated truancy and violent behavior tendencies with children of color and those from humble backgrounds, something I found quite disturbing. There was a gap in understanding the value of diversity and strategies to manage diversity, both in personal and professional settings. I learned that as leaders, we are tasked with ensuring our followers know how to effectively manage across cultures.
