Conduct additional research about diversity management in organizations.
Decide upon one or two focus areas for the training session. Determine which diversity management skills you want to strengthen and train others to implement. Will you follow an existing diversity management model or form one of your own? The goal of the training session is to equip employees to work successfully in culturally diverse contexts.
Step 2
Design a chart to function as a professional development training handout.
Create the chart with four columns to organize your thinking around these areas:
desirable skills,
source documenting the value of the skill,
specific actions to support the acquisition of the skill, and
an example of what applying the skill in your workplace looks like.
Include APA-formatted in-text citations and references to support your decision-making.
Step 3
In the same Word document, compile a 3- page outline with these components:
Write an introduction paragraph with a real-world example or story to establish the value of diversity management skills.
Identify and briefly explain models for managing diversity in the workplace and the one or two areas you selected as your focus.
Establish the connection between your self-assessment, the selected model and/or focus area(s), and the information you included on the chart.
Write a conclusion/summary paragraph.

In my previous workplace, I have noticed that sustainability initiatives, such as diversity management, posed a great problem for leaders. In a normal day, teachers were working with children and their families from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities. This reality implies that leaders and educators need to embrace diversity management as a regular part of their professional lives. I also interacted with a teacher colleague who demonstrated biased views and perspectives when interacting with students of color and those from economically disadvantaged households. The teacher typically associated truancy and violent behavior tendencies with children of color and those from humble backgrounds, something I found quite disturbing. There was a gap in understanding the value of diversity and strategies to manage diversity, both in personal and professional settings. I learned that as leaders, we are tasked with ensuring our followers know how to effectively manage across cultures.
