Assignment: Alignment with Publishing Guidelines Student’s Name Institution Course # and Name Professor’s Name Submission Date Step 1: Journal Selection and Submission I commenced my research by investigating various library databases, online resources, and other portals to determine a peer-reviewed journal pertinent to the aviation industry. Having taken time to consider my options carefully, I decided to go with the Journal of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, which features peer-reviewed articles on ergonomics or human factors and seeks to contribute both practically and theoretically to an understanding of how people interact with systems, devices, and the environment. I went to the journal to search for “Shortage of Pilots and its Implications” and got several articles addressing the discussed issue. After narrowing down my journal choice, I visited the journal website to look for the author submission guidelines, commonly called "guide for authors." In the author guidelines, a special section describes the submission process, which states that any original research contribution must be submitted while adhering to the format and citation guidelines. It also details how the manuscript should be prepared, including sections like abstract and introduction. But whereas the author's guidelines are geared towards the technical aspects of submitting or preparing a manuscript, the Creswell and Creswell (2023) research proposal process focuses on the research conceptualization, literature review, research design, and methodology. Human Factors, 66(3), 807-817. https://doi.org/10.1177/00187208221113 Mizzi et al. (2024) aimed to find the self-study methods utilized by airline pilots during the grounding caused by COVID-19 and the pilots’ perceptions of the decline in competency and confidence when they went back to flying. The authors point out that the previous management of unfamiliarity with flying was solved individually. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, pilots resuming flying have seen the airline training system deal with the vast numbers of them. The body of knowledge about the loss of competencies of airline pilots during their absence from the cockpit, as well as in the context of a pandemic, is s...
