Learner Name: Date(s):

Complete this section before you begin the week’s clinical.

Learning Goals: What do you want to accomplish for Competency 5: Pursue Systematic Self-Evaluation and Improvement in the Academic Nurse Educator Role?
Be sure your goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (S.M.A.R.T. goals).
Some goals should reflect higher cognitive learning levels in Bloom’s taxonomy.

My goal/s for this competency is/are to:
Goal 1
S: Work with coworkers or a preceptor to develop, implement, and assess best practice teaching methods that serve a diverse student population.
M: The preceptor/review/critique of my teaching techniques, discussion of the outcomes, and self-reflection on the procedure and outcomes will all be used to gauge my accomplishment with this goal.
A: During my practicum, I can achieve this objective.
R: Creating a lesson plan for the students at my practicum site considers their learning needs.
T: I can accomplish this during the practicum.
Goal 2
S: To improve student learning and idea integration throughout the semester, we will examine the lessons and teaching strategies that have been put into place.
M: The adoption of patients’ suggestions and active patient involvement will be evaluated as students complete their practicals.
A: I can achieve this during the practicum.
R: Creating a lesson plan for the children at my practicum location takes into account their learning needs.
T: I can accomplish this during the practicum.

Resources and Strategies: What resources or strategies will you utilize to accomplish your learning goals? Include both human and material resources.

The resources (human and material) and strategies I need to meet my weekly goal are:
I will need leadership abilities to accomplish the first objective. Encouraging open dialogue, respect for one another, and collaboration in decision-making to deliver high-quality patient care. Furthermore, I will need to be mindful of self-care, mainly how to prevent nurse educator/leader weariness. For excellent practice in nursing education, I will need to make an effort to academic investigation and applications in my teaching. Finally, I will need to apply situational judgments or intentions that direct the nursing profession to influence leadership style.
I will need to apply best practices in teaching within the educational setting by collaborating with teaching methodologies and considering learning styles to achieve the second goal. I will use formative and summative assessment techniques, including reviewing NCLEX questions, examinations, and quizzes. With the pupils, I will assess the results of teaching methods supported by evidence—electronic media, PowerPoint presentations, YouTube videos, group projects, dialogue, and participation.

Measurement: How will you know that you have accomplished your learning goal(s)? What criteria will you use to measure this?

The criteria I will use to measure my goals are:
* Student nurses are capable of contributing effectively to interprofessional and nursing teams.
* After the lesson, the students express their knowledge and express their concerns.
* Students will express their comprehension of the mourning ideas verbally.
* Students will exhibit cognitive and motor abilities through concept integration and critical thinking in clinical settings.
* Testing, quizzes, debates, discussions, and evaluations of students and preceptors all reflect learning in terms of the overall grade.

Complete this section after you complete the week’s clinical.

Evaluation: Did you meet your goal? What did you accomplish that you can use as evidence that you met your learning goals?

Did you meet your goal? Why or why not?
Yes, I met my goals. Students will continue to have faith in their ability to deal with death and dying in their nursing practice because of the collaborative lesson preparation and sound teaching of my topic that was made possible. The evaluation of the pupils showed that they understood the principles I covered in the session on grieving. Students still need to practice their clinical abilities and engage in simulations to show that they can integrate concepts.

I created clinical assessments for students using reflection-based learning aligned with the nursing curriculum and student performance. Thus, it has been noted that nursing students see the evaluation and framework learning activities as ways to improve their performance (Aydin et al., 2017). Thus, a nursing educator can...
