Accordingly, this case study will focus on the life of Mr. X, a 41-year-old African American patient who has been suffering from chronic vertigo for the past few weeks. The following section will involve a summary of his case, an insight into the differential diagnoses and the additional tests required, and the current physical therapy treatments prescribed to him. Overall, it is the author’s belief that case studies like this would help improve one’s insight regarding how to use physical therapy in cases like these.
Case Summary
Mr. X is a 41-year-old African American patient who has been suffering from chronic vertigo for the past three weeks. The patient was admitted after suffering from a fall while in his office due to a vertigo episode. Upon closer questioning, the patient noted that his episodes were frequently coupled with migraines or headaches and would usually last for hours. To alleviate the pain, the patient would take NSAIDS (i.e., Ibuprofen) and would feel relief from his symptoms after a few hours. The patient also reported that there were a few times when he vomited but thought that such might only be due to his drinking habit (moderate) or because of something that he ate the night before. However, the patient noted that his symptoms would either only occur or would feel worse when tilting his head to the right or front while standing.
