Regardless of political affiliation, every citizen has a stake in healthcare policy decisions. Hence, it is little wonder why healthcare items become such high-profile components of presidential agendas. It is also little wonder why they become such hotly debated agenda items.



Consider a topic that rises to the presidential level. How did each of the presidents (Trump, Obama, and Bush) handle the problem? What would you do differently?



To Prepare:



Review the Resources and reflect on the importance of agenda setting.

Consider how federal agendas promote healthcare issues and how these healthcare issues become agenda priorities.

Presidential Agenda: Abortion
Abortion has excited interesting mora and legal debates globally because it deals with human life. Different presidents in the US have held different stands and implemented policies in line with what they believe is the best way to handle the abortion issue. This essay discusses abortion under presidents George Bush, Barrack Obama, and Donald Trump.
President Donald Trump is entirely against abortion. The first two years of his presidency saw him reinstated the Mexico City Policy that banned non-governmental organizations funded by the federal state from promoting any abortion activities or procuring abortion to people (Freiburger, 2019). NGOs that went against the policy would lose their funding. Trump said that he was standing up for all Americans, including those not yet born.
President Obama held a different opinion from President Trump. He held that women should have the freedom and right to terminate their pregnancy provided they follow safe and legal ways.
