“Nature Taps the Power of Limits” Name Institution Course and Code Professor Date “Nature Taps the Power of Limits” In chapter 9, the author explores embracing and leveraging limits as a way of encouraging innovation and adaptation. Allen (2018) uses her personal experiences with gardening to give a clear picture of how nature thrives within its limits to create diverse ecosystems. As a gardener, she lives in a cold climate and therefore, cannot plant her favorite rhododendron bush that she grew up with in Pennsylvania. This is because they cannot survive the winters in Minnesota. So, she settles for a hybrid variety that is designed to withstand colder temperatures. Another example she uses to illustrate nature thriving within its limits is how species in diverse locations evolve to fit with the terrain and other local conditions. They adapt their needs, shape, and abilities to fit the climate. Whether it is the dry heat of the desert, heat and humidity of the tropics, or the cold and snowy mountain terrain.
