Interview Guide

Book Report Instructions:
You must complete the following tasks: Read Leading Change by Kotter. Develop an Interview Guide to ask questions about Kotter’s eight-stage process. You are not limited to the questions developed in class but expect to generate 30-minute interviews. Find, contact, schedule, and conduct interviews with 2 leaders of organizations to collect information about the Kotter model. Ask your questions and trace how they have led and managed change in their organization. The organizations can be either profit or not-for-profit organizations; moreover, while I prefer they be organizations in the community, you may use a campus-related organization if necessary. Use the information (as well as the examples in Kotter) to test his eight stages. Analyze the data with particular attention to the relative importance of each stage, the time/resources used in each stage, the outcomes of each stage, and its importance to the other stages. Present your findings in a 3-4-page paper. Regarding the interview part, if you can't find an actual person to interview, you can make up two interviews. However, please note that the subject being interviewed must be authentic and verifiable.

Processing companies must strive to keep pace with their competitors and meet the constantly evolving demands of their clients, or else they risk falling behind. In order to expedite the process of change, it is imperative to address issues such as management's ineptitude in properly managing transitions and the overall lack of participation among employees (Todd, 2022). Based on the two interviews I conducted with the CEO and sales manager of a small business in my community called "Specialty Food Manufacturer," it became evident that their primary objective is not only to maximize profits but also to achieve steady growth. Both interviewees offered valuable perspectives on the firms' change management strategies and critically evaluated the applicability and efficacy of Kotter's approach. The initial stage of Kotter's (2012) change management strategy involves establishing a feeling of urgency. Regarding this matter, Apple recognized a potential opening in the market for personal computers. This created a sense of immediacy within the organization to ...
