The poor living environment in the society disadvantages the minority. According to Gaynor and Wilson (2020), the COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately impacted Black communities in the United States due to social vulnerabilities shaped by systemic racism. The authors contend that racism has created structures that, combined with COVID-19, have resulted to higher infection and loss of lives among Black individuals.
