The Process:
Describes your approach to, and experience with, each stage of the research process, and explains what obstacles you encountered, what mistakes you made and why, what successes you had.
Knowledge Derived from Study of Source Materials:
Explain what you learned from your research. What did you believe or think about your topic before conducting the research? How have your views changed?
As part of this section of the essay, explain how you might use the research information in an analytical or persuasive essay. What does the research suggest about your topic? What answers to your questions does it provide? What new questions have arisen from your reading? What specific source information is most useful? Why?
NOTE: This absolutely requires that you have READ and taken notes and thought about your research materials. You should include appropriately placed quotes and in-text citations to support your claims in this part of the essay, both of which should conform to MLA style and should include actual research information to support your illustration Do not attempt to write the narrative without doing the actual research, as it will be obvious to me.
Self-evaluation:
Discuss what you have learned from the process itself. Some things to consider: What have your realized about your own study habits, planning, time management, etc.? What have you learned about facts vs. opinions? How does the actual data or research statistics and expert analysis alter your view of the issue? How might this experience with research be useful to you in future endeavors, academic or otherwise?
Reminder:
This should be a single coherent and unified essay, not three separate discussions that simply list responses to the questions. The essay should not have separate headings for each part. Use transitions, topic sentences, and other signaling strategies to guide your reader through the essay.

***Include ample thoughtful reflection and analysis
***Take the form of an essay—with a clear purpose, focused paragraphs introduced by analytical topic sentences and relevant support and analysis. Sentences and paragraphs should follow in logical sequence and be linked by appropriate transition phrasing.
***Write this essay in clear precise prose, observing the conventions of English grammar and punctuation.

Conducting historical research can be overwhelming, especially when it comes to finding reliable information that is factual and precise. The history of American Indian boarding schools is no exception. It is a broader topic, and scholars are continuously working to find accurate information about the events that transpired. A scholar can get it wrong if not careful and does not know where to get accurate information. This happened to me, and this paper seeks to provide details of my research on how I got accurate facts and figures about the Indian American boarding schools in the United States of America.
My research on American Indian boarding schools has been inspired by my love of studying American history, both its best and dark chapters, as well as my curiosity to understand why things happened the way they did and what changed. Many materials and scholarly articles about American Indian boarding schools are found online. Still, most provide conflicting information, making it difficult to determine which is the reliable and correct information from assumptions and speculations. Also, at the beginning, I made the mistake of focusing broadly on the American Indian boarding schools, which provided a shallow understanding of the research topic. Therefore, to make sure I had the correct facts and figures about American Indian boarding schools, I narrowed down my search to peer-reviewed journals and trusted and verified websites such as the Washington Post, Harvard Magazine, National Public Radio, and government reports.
Clearly, my most tremendous success was being able to connect with experts and stumble about specific scholars who provided a deep insight into the topic and as well challenged me to be open-minded to historical events. For instance, Dana Hedgpeth of the Washington Post provides a detailed account of how many schools in America participated in assimilating American Indian students. The information I acquired helped to deal with complex matters of assimilation, which formed the operation system of American Indian boarding schools. As I continued to gather more information, It was an eye-opener, and I had to face the uncomfortable truth of the pain and trauma the students faced in what was believed to be education. Thus, I approached the research topic with a lot of sensitivity and empathy, which enabled me to connect with the torture and the events that transpired.
Before the study, I had a superficial understanding and a shallow view of the American Indian boarding school. I viewed the institutions as places to gather knowledge and for parents who wanted their children to learn independently without their involvement. They were just schools that provided education to Native Americans. However, with the research, my views have evolved drastically for the better as I now understand that they were not only institutions of learning but also assimilation institutions that were designed to erase the language and cultures of Native Americans. The events are traumatizing, and I would recommend others to dwell on the study to understand how the government-sponsored cultural genocide of the Native Americans.
