Its origins can be traced back to ancient civilizations, where leaders were often seen as powerful figures who commanded respect and obedience. Today, leadership is defined as the ability to influence and guide others towards a shared vision and goals. Leadership is quite diverse, from the CEO seated at the furthest corner office in an organization to the commander general of a given army in the middle of a war. It all goes down to the ability to effectively influence others towards the achievement of a certain goal. The development of a leadership philosophy is supposed to be a fundamental expectation of anyone who aspires to be a great leader at whichever capacity. A leadership philosophy is the set of personal beliefs that provide an individual with a personalized worldview into matters leadership. My leadership philosophy revolves around empowering team members, fostering open communication, and leading by example with integrity. The paper critically evaluates leadership theories, traits, emotional intelligence, and essential mindsets and habits. It also discusses how my personality assessments shape my approach to becoming an effective leader. Leadership theory and styles developed over the century. Leadership has kept evolving over the years, especially over the past several centuries when it became something worth studying. Over the past century, numerous leadership theories and styles have emerged, ranging from trait-based to situational and transformational models. The great man theory, which later evolved into trait theory, proposed that leaders are born with innate qualities, while behavioral theories focused on what leaders do. Situational theories recognize that effective leadership depends on the context, and contingency models emphasize the fit between the leader's style and the situation. Transformational leadership inspires followers to transcend self-interests for a greater collective purpose (Benmira & Agboola, 2021). I resonate with the authentic and servant leadership approaches, prioritizing integrity, empathy, and serving others since it also entails leading from the front by doing what one expects the follows to emulate as well. The Big Five and Myers-Briggs assessments revealed my conscientious, logical, and dependable traits, aligning well with these leadership philosophies of building trust and empowering team members. The Myers-Briggs personality test basically analyzes the personality and preferences of an individual by using 4 scales to break down how individuals perceive the world around themselves. These four tests usually end up categorizing individuals as; introvert vs extrovert, intuitive vs sensing, feeling vs thinking and perceiving vs judging.
