Concepts are fundamental to many intellectual activities, like planning, thinking, reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making. (Sloutsky & Deng, 2017). Thus, the term concept has vast utility. Unlike other psychiatric treatments, trauma practice did not start with the ideas of a single person. Instead, it has slowly changed throughout psychotherapy's past in response to the need to adapt therapy in response to significant events that threaten a person's integrity. (Walker, 2017). Hence, trauma cannot be seen on its own. Psychological trauma, to be specific, can hurt someone's health even more severely and dangerously than being sick (Spytska, 2023). Nurses and other medical workers must rely on what they can see and the patient's actions to give them the best care possible. This paper tries to explain the basic ideas, different points of view, and how psychological trauma can be used in nursing practice. Defining the Criteria of a Concept Uses of the Concept The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) says that trauma is when someone is seriously hurt or faced with severe harm or when they are sexually abused (Center for Substance Abuse Treatment US, 2014). After a disaster, it is expected to feel shocked and denial. However, these feelings can sometimes last long and get in the way of the person's daily life. Psychologists and psychiatric-mental health nurses help these people learn good ways to deal with their feelings (Kichefski, 2023). Psychological-mental health nurses also help people who have long-term illnesses, abuse drugs or alcohol, or who have been sexually or physically abused, as well as soldiers. These symptoms include prior trauma, suppressing emotions in family or community, and religious or cultural beliefs (Perrotta, 2020). Psychological trauma causes people to lose their views, become furious, shrink socially, feel threatened, and disrupt their relationships (Silove et al., 2017). Trauma can cause intense emotions. Some trauma survivors, especially those who were traumatized as children, struggle to control powerful feelings like dread, anxiety, and fury. Numbness or detachment, a biological process that separates memories, behaviors, and thoughts from feelings, may also occur (Silove et al., 2017). Psychological stress has numerous definitions. Antecedents and Consequences of the Concept Anything that must happen before an idea can happen is called antecedent (Carbogim, 2016). Psychological trauma can only happen when many different things have happened before this concept. Physical or mental abuse, rape, war, and getting a diagnosis are just a few of the things that can cause psychological trauma. Traumatic mental injuries caused by war have been called shell shock or combat stress reactions (Searle et al., 2017). Traumatic stress can change body and mind in many ways. A lot of the time, the horrible thing that happened was not done on purpose. Several things can lead to psychological trauma. Changes in the shape of the hippocampus area have effects on the body's physiology and induce psychological trauma (Bartzak, 2016). Long-term release of glucocorticoids is linked to a higher chance of mental health problems and disorders. After a concept, consequences follow along with it (Carbogim, 2016).
