End-of-life decisions are always challenging, and they touch on the needs of the medical team, the patient, the patient's family, the hospital, and society in general. These decisions are compounded by various medical, ethical, social, and religious factors, and hence, there is a need to establish a coherent and cohesive policy across the country that can protect all stakeholders. In Saudi Arabia, the implementation of DNR with different policies among healthcare organizations is not consistent with the needs of the culture, hence necessitating the formulation of a national standard policy (Alsayed et al., 2022). According to Alhabter et al. (2023), the Saudi Health Council has stood to respond by beginning attempts to set up a coherent national guideline on DNR, which is to be practiced in clinics throughout the country with adherence to ethical regulations. It is, therefore, very important to task this country with formulating a national policy and procedure in connection with DNR orders. First, such a policy offers legal and ethical frameworks that healthcare practitioners should follow while making patient management decisions, hence ensuring that decisions meet the required legal and ethical standards. Secondly, it respects the patient's self-determination and, at the same time, defends most healthcare givers from lawsuits and other legal and professional ramifications. Third, a standardized approach is conducive to creating trust in the healthcare system by providing a clear list of guidelines integrating religious and cultural sensitivities, such as Islamic law, which occupies a significant place in the medical law system in Saudi Arabia. End-of-life decision-making is made even more complicated because it involves the patient, his or her family, healthcare professionals, and the broader society, according to Levoy et al. (2023).
