My EBP question  The format of PICOT is as follows: "In low-income, minority women who have recently given birth (P), does the implementation of culturally sensitive early postpartum depression screening and intervention (I) compared to standard care (C) reduce the incidence and severity of postpartum depression (O) within six months postpartum (T).   This study is to investigate the efficacy of early intervention in preventing low-income minority mums from experiencing severe postpartum depression within the first six months after giving birth. Based on your investigation of the literature from the library and online resources, identify six articles you will use to support your question and work towards development of your Evidence-Based Practice Project Proposal. Step 2—Acquire: Search for and retrieve the best evidence to answer the clinical question.  Using your six selected journal articles (that support changing the clinical practice to improve the gap), complete the  rows in the literature matrix using the template provided. Read your six journal articles and extract the necessary information needed to complete each row for each article. Helpful Information It is best to thoroughly review each article and then synthesize the information for each section in your own words (if you can), rather than copying straight from the article. As an example, you can review any literature, systematic, or integrative review article and typically find a literature review matrix. Articles of this nature generally have strict word count limits, so the matrix is usually very concise—but this will give you an idea of how the information is extracted from each article. For our purposes (and generally), the literature review matrix should include research articles. Typically, these articles will have an abstract available with sections for their purpose and aims, background, methods, design, results, and conclusions; or these sections may be located within the body of the paper. Please note: Your research/EBP article must be an original article. It cannot be a review of another article.
