Zoo trip information due June 15 (READ FIRST) Zoo Assignment: Threatened and Endangered Animals This activity involves you making a trip to a zoo*. If you live near the zoo in Alexandria, LA (close to LSUA), I encourage you to visit. You only need to bring $8.95 to enter, a sheet or two of paper, and some type of writing utensil. I suggest that you also dig deep in your pockets for a few more bucks so that you can take a nice leisurely ride on the Bayou le Zoo Choo Choo* and grab a yummy snack. The object of this exercise is three-fold: 1. To get a first hand view of biodiversity. 2. To observe protected (threatened or endangered) animals and determine the cause of this vulnerability. (hint: at our zoo, it will state it on the animal description plaque. Then, from your observation, determine the main cause of endangered or threatened status. 3. To explain what SSP represents, to list 6 animals that are included in this program, and to realize the importance of this program for the perpetuation of each species. For your assistance, I have provided you with an answer page for you to record your information (zoo trip answer sheet). You will need to type your answers into the document, and submit it to me through the assignment box. Be sure to name the document as follows: your last name zootrip (for example, my file name would be falliszootrip). The due date for this assignment is October 1 by 11:55PM CST. *You may also use a virtual zoo, just be sure to note which zoo you visited, as well as only obtain information from one zoo. I highly recommend physically attending a zoo if at all possible; it truly increases the fun factor :)
