It is a pleasure to thank everyone who made the whole process of drafting this portfolio possible and those who supported me in any respect during its completion. 6.0. Introduction.
Throughout my course, I have been writing many documents in the form of essays, poems, and other texts; I feel that I improve every time. My instructors have always offered their maximum cooperation and contribution in my writing, and this year, (name of instructor), has made me grow as a thinker, a writer, and reader. This year, one thing that I have learned and has been extremely helpful to me is the history of the English language. The process has been time-consuming but arguably worth it in the end. I have had a chance to understand the lengths that the language has undertaken to become the most popular and mostly used annotation throughout the world. I have escalated my knowledge of the different literary terms in the English language, types of papers, devices used in expository and figurative language as well as the influence of the language in the culture of many societies and associations in around the globe.
7.0. Paper 1: History of the English Language.
Original Draft.
Firstly, the paper explains the history of the English language, which shows that it is an expository text aimed at creating and shaping an understanding of the language. This makes the paper a work of non-fiction, a different genre and a notion that meets the requirements of outcome one which serves to analyze actions from another style used in the text which in this case is non-fiction (Algeo 130). Further, the author of the document uses analogy as the primary literary term to meet the second requirement of the same outcome when it compares two concepts; the Od and Middle English then compare a composition of the two with modern English, an extensive requirement of outcome one which serves to analyze works from another genre and literary terms used.
Secondly, the article looked at the earliest recorded forms of English and its features followed by the Middle English that was used until the 15th Century than the modern English, which is still used to date. This is primarily related to the second outcome, which serves to analyze literary texts to explain matters of historical significance.
Thirdly, the paper illustrates outcome number five which seeks to persuade that there is a significant utility in studying the history of English as a language and argues that the evolution of English is tied within the historical development of its current users (Algeo 157). Moreover, it illuminates the critical understanding of the English and informs parents to make it a basic knowledge since doing so also creates a massive appreciation of not only the present but also the early evolution of their predecessors.
