Statement of Research Interest Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Statement of Research Interest Continuous learning and the determination to be agents of positive change in the world remain some of the most vital prospects for people who want to adapt to the dynamism of the world. From a personal standpoint, the world is changing so fast that people who will not initiate the changes will hardly survive in the future. Partly, it is for that reason that I intend to have a positive impact on this world through knowledge acquisition and dissemination. I am a senior student at the University of Ottawa majoring in human resource management (HRM). The knowledge and skills that I have gained in HRM have stimulated me to develop a profound interest in understanding the dynamics of human behavior in organizational settings. HRM remains a field that is transforming to match the changes in the operational environment. Being a professional in the industry, my interest in being part of the change through advanced research should be warranted. With its rich history in human resources and organizational behavior, the Telfer School of Management’s MSC program presents the best opportunity for me to contribute to the field through research. In the next step in my academic and professional journey, I intend to be part of the Telfer School of Management where I will get the needed resources and expertise to steer my career aspirations by executing research that will focus on employees. Area of Research Interest My research interest lies in exploring the impact of organizational culture on employee engagement and performance. I am interested in understanding how human resource managers can have productive employees in their diverse and multicultural workplace environments. Notably, employees remain the most important resource to any organization. However, having motivated and productive employees within an organization remains a challenge worthy of further research. In a highly globalized world, it is important for employers and HR managers how cultural diversity influences organizational dynamics. Further, organizational stakeholders may need to explore how to foster innovation and productivity through cultural inclusion. To that extent, I aim to investigate the mechanisms that leaders could deploy to cultivate workplaces and cultures that accommodate people from diverse backgrounds seamlessly. If executed and implemented effectively, the findings of such a study could steer improvement of organizational outcomes amidst enhanced well-being of all employees.
