When Do You Need to Acknowledge a Source?
When using common knowledge, it is important to acknowledge one’s sources if one cannot decide if certain information needs to be credited to a particular author (Davis, 2011). When using textbooks as sources, one should acknowledge them by citing the edition and page number from which one got their information (Davis, 2011). When using visual material from textbooks, one should acknowledge the source using a caption as an in-text citation and a full citation in the references page (Davis, 2011). When making verbal classroom presentations, one should acknowledge the source of their material by referring to the author’s name during the presentation (Davis, 2011). When using power points, acknowledge your sources by providing full citations for diagrams, images, film, or audio clips (Davis, 2011).
