Babbage's Analytical Engine is the interesting piece of history I picked up in this reading. This engine is the first computer invented by Charles Babbage in the nineteenth century. Since the mid-1830s, Babbage started designing a truly programmable computer that could execute complex calculation sequences that exceeded the capabilities of any contemporary machines (Pg. 159). He designed the analytical engine to be a general-purpose programmable computing machine that could perform any calculation set before it. Babbage's design also anticipated all the major components of a modern computer.
