Summary of Personal Trait and Situation
Personality traits are one's behavior that they display in their life. They can be ones born of or even adapted along the way. Whereas the environs in which one is surrounded may also affect one's character or the way they carry themselves. So, I firmly believe that both Adia Rodgers character traits and Mischel situational attributes coexist, and each one of them depends on the other. It is not only one's character but also the conditions in which the person is, or even the surroundings of that person, that have a significant impact on the characteristics of that person.
Many scientists have argued that the character of someone is what defines them. Still, I stand to disagree that it is not only the behavior of that person but also the environment they get themselves in. let me begin with Adia's theory. (Leak, Gary K & Karin C. Leak 2006). So, according to Adia, the writer has tried to describe the definition of the character attributes people pose in terms of a family context. But I am not saying one's character cannot enable you to choose critically. No, I am saying that there is more to the character than just enough to judge someone.
Let us begin with the first personality trait that Adia shows us of a relationship between a mother and her family, in that she is trustworthy. Yes, I agree this is a character attribute that most mothers portray to their family because they are blood. The girl feels safe to trust her mother with any advice because it is her mother. If she cannot trust her, who else can she trust? But here is where the contrast comes in. The mother is honest, but what is making her consistent with the honesty trait is her circumstance, which is she is a mother, so she ought to be honorable because she has children who are looking up to her and her setup. (Mischel, Walter & Yuichi Shoda 1995). After all, she is a wife, so she is expected to bring up her children in the right way. Both that personality characteristic that she has gone hand in hand with her surroundings. The consistency paradox. Just how Mischel is putting in in her theory.
