Based on recent research, companies spend billions per year searching for replacement employees. High turnover rate is a huge problem to various industries, resulting in a negative impact on a business' resources, services, and output. Nowadays, employee engagement is only 15% worldwide, raising questions about why this is so (Spencer). Employee engagement is an important aspect that companies should invest in to maximize the companies' profits and boost their way to growth and success.
Employee engagement is defined as the emotional and mental connection that an employee has with their jobs and the companies that they work in (Nazir et al.). This also involves the commitment and effort that the employees exert on their responsibilities does not revolve on themselves but for the whole company's betterment. It should also be noted that employee engagement is not synonymous with employees' job satisfaction. Although these may affect the other, the employees' happiness or well-being does not necessarily result in high levels of commitment, motivation, and pro-activeness for the good of the company. Employee engagement involves a balanced and healthy connection between the work, the company, and the team.
