Seen and Unseen Narrative in Visual Media
Visual media is a term used to designate things such as film, television, painting photography, etc. Throughout humanity, art and media have been used to visualize the unseen and to imagine or image things that are unknown as a way of trying to comprehend life, nature, or a particular thing. This skill of being able to see the unseen requires an authoritative vision of not merely "sight", but "insight".
By being attentive to your own mind, the attention creates a notion. Camera techniques like aperture, shuttle speed and exposure, helps to create emotion, while tone and contrast will bring out a representation of time, present and past. These compositions project an outlook that guides the viewer to make an unseen reality of that particular medium (Ryan 2004)
There has been an influx of subliminal messages being propagated in the visual media, which takes the subconscious mind of a person to identify. Our conscious mind bases what we consume visually on logic, whilst the subconscious mind absorbs it in wholesomely, and then stores it. In those events that the subliminal message is calculated, the purpose of that visual message is meant to bypass the conscious, and intentionally go to the subconscious (Ryan, 2004)
