The concept of family value is widely used to refer to the traditional set of social standards which are defined by the family and a history of customs offering the emotional and physical basis for raising a family. Spiritual and traditional beliefs reinforce the social values which forms the foundation for children to learn and function in the society. The family is the primary social institution which is responsible for inculcation of good behaviors and virtues of children. The aspect of family values is attained when a family itself has essential good values practiced and shared helping children to become responsible in the long run. The values, in addition, are practiced in certain social norms suitable and applicable in the area the family resides.
It is important to understand family values are important since they are essential in guiding children in the process of their growth and development in order to interact with the larger society. Observing of these family values and their practice within a family setting enables the family members to grow and mature into productive individuals in the future.
Different important values and norms are practiced in order for the young ones to emulate because a family is the first community that every individual begins to explore the wider world. As such, the family importantly observes and manifests good behavior and positive practices as role models for the young ones.
