How can schools better prepare students to write clearly and more effectively in freshmen composition
Composition writing is one of the pertinent subjects in freshman courses. It is an area to express one’s literally skills. Schools always advocate for clear communication and composition acts as one tool for perfecting this attribute in students. However, many students find it difficult to clearly and eloquently express their thoughts and ideas in writing. Some basic reasons would be language barrier and fear of the unknown. Hence, the burden on schools to ensure and prepare students to sharpen their composition writing skills.
Schools should advocate for the use of common language in speech and writing by the students and teachers. The commonality in language will sharpen pupils’ language especially those to whom it is a second language.
Encouraging a reading culture in the school. Reading more builds on one’s imagery concepts. Hence, better ability to communicate more ideas from the books or articles read. For instance, the institution can have a short story for each class each week. Then, the story can be tested through composition writing at the end of each week.
Creating a school writing center may also enhance desirable compositions. The writing center should have trained tutors to offer individuals help in all aspects pertaining to composition writing. There should be a registration desk to evaluate those visiting the center...
