Violence is the intentional use of power or physical force against an individual or a community that can lead to death, injury, or psychological harm. Several types of violence include collective violence, abuse of minority groups, neglect, and sexual crime. People experience violence across the whole word. Hence, understanding the root causes and effects of violence is essential. It will help people realize situations that can subject them to violence and how they should respond to them. The paper seeks to discuss the primary causes and effects of violence on individuals and communities.
Various factors contribute to violence in the community. First, biological and personal factors influence an individual's behavior. People born in a family that engaged in conflicts. They engage in violence and aggression because they grew to witness violent behavior in the family. Secondly, peer relationships cause violence in society. People who have friends that engage and encourage violence increase their chances of being victims or perpetrators of violence.
