The Book of Ruth
Here is the story to write about (attached)
Remember to begin a literary essay with a clear reference to the title of the epic poem, essay, or story (in quotes or italics, depending on whether you have a "story" or an epic poem). The first paragraph must contain a thesis statement (not a question) that specifically focuses readers' attention on your argument. The body paragraphs contain smooth transitional sentences related to the thesis and give specific details and examples for the main points (here's where a quote may appear to prove your opinion). The conclusion makes a final point about your thesis and connects to your title. Always include a clever title to suggest the direction of your thesis or main idea.
Basically, the essay is open ended but limited to the World lit course readings and content. Students choose their argumentative approach (use their best writing skills and strongest content information) while responding to the exam question.
