d. the police and Ferguson, Missouri
ESSAY STRUCTURE
• Write for a specific audience who will be interested in your topic and identify that audience at the beginning of the essay.
• As always, have a title.
• Use an appropriate introductory device in the introduction.
• End your introduction with a finely crafted thesis which you will underline.
• Put your topic sentences at the beginning of the body ¶'s. There is no stipulation as to the number of ¶'s.
• Be concrete and use effective examples to support your assertions.
• Order them logically.
• Refer back to your introductory device in the conclusion.
