Consequently, becoming a professional writer requires patience, curiosity, perseverance and practice. Only then, can an individual turn creative desire into concrete writing. Excellent writing responds to the interests and needs of the readers. The traits of great writing include ideas, organizations, tone, and choice of words, sentence fluency, conventions and presentation. Hence, good writing is not just correct writing. It takes more than perfect grammar, punctuation and spelling for an individual to excel in writing.
Tips to become an excellent Writer
Compared as a beginner writer and now it is obvious that I have made great advancement. Initially, I had an assumption that writing is effortless and should come naturally along the way. However, it became obvious that even the greatest writers struggle to get to that level. Determination is the key towards excelling in writing. Thinking that writing is simple was a mistake. I filled many pages in illogical writing. Furthermore, I had not mastered the fundamentals of writing including grammar, vocabulary and the elements of style. Consequently, for a beginner writer there is the use of vague words that make the writing sloppy and incomprehensible. As a competent writer, I realized that the order and selection of words matters in writing. There is a need to write with clearly defined purpose. It is crucial to make a definite point backed by specific information. Furthermore, the information must be clearly connected and arranged with emphatic, concise and correct sentences. Drafting is fundamental since the attentiveness to the details of prose highlights an individual’s attentiveness to the outside world. Knowing when to quit is essential to ensure that one does not leave ideas unnoticed.
