A number of factors led to the defeat of Great Britain in the Revolutionary War in the colonial times. The first and probably the most important of the defeat precipitation factors was the advantage that the Americans had over the British in the length of their lines of supply(Gray and Kamensky186). One of the most important factors in war is the timely delivery of military supply to the combatants at the warfront. In this, the British failed because delivering this material meant procuring all the way fro Europe and transporting them across the Atlantic while the Americans could just get them locally.
The other factor was the style of battle employed by both the British and the Americans with each style causing the defeat and victory of both sides respectively. It is documented that in Europe, the battle ground that the British was used to wasflat and the soldiers who had already fought several previous battles were used to this. On the European front, the standard procedure employed by the soldiers was arranging three lines of combat soldiers to make an advance.
