Ikebana Boat by Dale Chihuly
Ikebana Boat is one of the 12 installations of Dale Chihuly’s “Chihuly: Through the Looking Glass” featured in the Museum of Fine Arts located in Boston. The idea of ikebana is rooted in the art of flower arrangement popularized by Japan. This artwork can grab the viewer’s attention through its formal elements such as its color, shape, and rhythm.
Chihuly’s Ikebana boat depicts bright and vibrant colors. Set in a wooden boat, the variety of colors give life to the swirling and twisted glass. There was a riot of color that perfectly fits the artwork. The stunning colors give more emphasis on this masterpiece which illustrates an entire journey that is full of brightness. Almost every color was featured along with their contrasting hue.
