This paper employs Conflict Theory, which attributes social relations to power and the distribution of essential resources. Conflict Theory is relevant to the central questions of this research on how some people are privileged while others are oppressed based on their race, gender, class, and economic status. Theoretical Perspective: Conflict Theory Conflict theory originates from Karl Marx's work, whereby it sees society in terms of clashes of interest where the ruling class uses its power to dominate the institutions. It underlines that it is not a matter of individual or market choice but a system designed to favor certain people. According to Campbell (2021), this theory is still helpful in explaining current injustices associated with income, education, and health. Macnaughton and Ahmed (2023) also explain how the reformist economic policies, privileging privatization, non-intervention, and cut on social expenditures also entrench social injustices by devolving the costs on vulnerable groups.
