These memos should aim to specify the primary action steps you would recommend to the management of an organization (yours, or more generally) to capitalize on the insights you gleaned from a synthesis of the readings assigned for that session. Subject: Promoting Effective Collaboration
It is said that ‘no man is an island.’ Well, there is no place where these words hold true, like in an organizational setup. Any person who tries to succeed alone in an organization ends up frustrated and out of a job almost as soon as they get one. However, in a world that is becoming overly individualistic, how can managers leverage certain skills to help employees become more dependent on each other?
As a manager, one must understand that a team cannot succeed or collaborate successfully if the members do not trust each other. However, trust is a result of the relationships that people build and maintain with each other. Therefore, as a manager, one must be keen to help employees build and maintain strong relationships. Such can be done and achieved through bringing together employees with similar skills or through colocation. In doing so, there is a likelihood that such a group will ultimately grow roots of friendship and develop trust.
