Critical Reflection on Buddhism
The Critical Reflection:
Brief Summary: One summary paragraph on each of the texts for one week. (2-3 paragraphs in all) Personal Reflection: One paragraph on your personal reflection connecting your experiences or reactions to the readings/lectures/tutorial.
Analyzation/reflection: one paragraph on analyzing and connecting the content. Some questions to consider: what do you think about the concept of no self? Is Nagasena’s explanation of no-self helpful? If you participated in the meditation and are willing to share your experiences, how did it go? was it what you expected? What do you think of the different kinds of meditations that you read? ie. 32 parts of the body, loving-kindness. How might they help the practitioner understand certain aspects of Buddhism and/or aid in developing the mind a certain way? Regarding the Abhidharma, what are your impressions? how might it aid in meditation? What do you find interesting? What do you find confusing? What do you think about meditation such as mindfulness being taught in places such as schools or hospitals?
