[TEAM] Functional Behavior Assessment Procedures: Design a set of FBA procedures to identify the function of one of the behavioral excesses listed in your assigned case study. The procedures must include an indirect assessment, a direct assessment, a functional analysis, a skills assessment, and a preference assessment. Select the procedures to be used for each type of assessment according to the information provided in the case study as well as relevant research literature and best practice standards. Include technical descriptions of all procedures to be used and why the specific assessments chosen would be the best option for the client. Review appropriate safeguards that should be in place to ensure that the FBA is conducted in an ethical manner. The focus for the team portion of the assignment is on the procedures and the theoretical reasoning for your selection of the assessment procedures. Please note: you MUST include a functional analysis in your FBA, so please select your behavior accordingly.
THE ABOVE ARE TEAM INSTRUCTIONS, I ONLY NEED TO DEVELOP ON ONE ASSESSMENT (DIRECT ASSESSMENT)

Target Behavior
Self-injurious behavior (SIB) refers to non-accidental actions that cause injury to a person's body. It entails behaviors including hair pulling, head banging, and skin picking. In this case study, SIB encompasses any instance in which Mike engages in contact with his head through surfaces or his hand, including banging his head with walls and floors or hitting his head with his fist. The presence of SIB is dangerous as it increases the danger to families, restrictive practices in primary care environments, and causes residential placement breakdowns (Laverty et al., 2020). Instances are tallied when an action involves force and could lead to injury.
Reason for Direct Assessment
Direct assessment involves spotting and recording the target behavior in real time. It is a crucial part of a functional behavior assessment (FBA) applied to create efficacious behavior intervention approaches. Direct assessment offers insights into where, when, and how the target behavior happens and how long it endures. In this context, it helps identify environmental triggers and maintain consequences, which is essential for creating hypotheses about the function of the behavior.
Chosen Direct Assessment Procedures
1 ABC (Antecedent-Behavior-Consequence) Data Collection
Record the actions instantly before the SIB (antecedents), a comprehensive explanation of the SIB (behavior), and the occasions that follow the SIB (consequences). Observations would happen in several settings, such as school and home, to recognize the tendencies. ABC data is essential since it assists in pinpointing possible triggers, such as transition and demands, and maintaining reinforcers, including escape, attention, and sensory stimulation. Utilizing ABC data could help connect the assumptions of what is happening in the environm...
