The psychopathology models include biological, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and sociocultural models. The biological model usually emphasizes mental illness that results from biological factors such as genetics or imbalances in the brain chemicals (James et al., 2016). The common words I associate with this model include brain chemistry, genetics, heredity, hormones, neurotransmitters, medication, and neuroanatomy. The patients can receive treatments such as physical therapies or medication. On the other hand, the psychodynamic model is mainly based on Freud's ideas, which primarily focus on early experiences, unconscious conflicts, and inner struggles that manifest in displaying mental illness. The common words I associate with this model include early childhood, unconscious, defense mechanism, repressed memories, conflict, insight therapy, and Freud.
