The primary role of addiction counselors is to provide support, guidance, and appropriate therapies to individuals, groups of people, or even families that are suffering from drug addiction problems. The help and guidance provided are geared towards helping these categories of individuals overcome addiction and gain control of their lives. As an addiction counselor, ethical guidelines and principles dictate the actions and therapies that I will undertake when counseling victims of drug addiction.
