Before watching the video, I had always associated homelessness with laziness, coupled with the unwillingness to work harder and meet housing needs. Secondly, my initial thoughts associated all people lacking housing facilities with victims of substance use. People hold different misconceptions about people without housing (Martinez, 2023). However, watching and recognizing Michael’s situation, including his battle with cancer and losing his family to death (Invisible People, 2018), changed my perspective and understanding regarding the homeless.
