When designing effective applied behavior analysis intervention and treatment planning, cognitive-behavioral principles are essential.
Behaviorism's focus on observable actions and environmental instances allows explaining how behaviors are taught, maintained, and altered. In contrast, cognitivism examines how the mind and ideals affect behavior. The cognitive-behavioral approach recognizes that cognitive strategies and overt behaviors form human behavior.
