Background
Ethics is a crucial ingredient in project management. It refers to coming up with the best decisions concerning resources, environment, and people (Larson et al., 2018). Ethical decisions reduce risk, increase trust, increase the achievement of positive results, build reputations, and determine lasting success. Project management leadership depends on good ethical choices. Since ethics is essential in the successful execution of projects, PMI has formulated a document that consists of the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct to help project managers make right and honorable decisions. The Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct highpoints ethical values like honesty, fairness, trust, respect, and responsibility (Larson et al., 2018). All these values create agreement and professionalism among the project team, which eventually leads to the success of the project
Ethics holds together distinct cultures spanning different time zones, team members with diverse behaviors, and sections with exclusive objectives. To evade ethical dilemmas, the PMI developed an Ethical Decision-Making Framework to supplement the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. The Ethical Decision-Making Framework describes steps that guide a person through project management practice in making the right decisions when faced with an ethical dilemma (Larson et al., 2018). It consists of the following steps;

* Alternatives- Consideration of the choice
* Analysis-identification of candidate choices and testing their validity

Therefore, a good and responsible project manager must practice the PMI Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and utilize the Ethical Decision-Making Framework to ensure that ethics permeates all aspects of its operations.
Ethical Challenges and Opportunities for Growth
* Unique circumstances 
Project managers operate in a unique range of situations that can easily result in ethical issues and transgressions (Catambay, 2017). They work with diverse stakeholders, different executives from within the organization or outside, suppliers or vendors, and individuals from a broad spectrum, from marketing to security to finance and information systems. The unique circumstances present a challenging situation to the project manager to infuse ethics.
Solution
Project managers need to be well conversant with the organization's Code of Conduct and make sure that all team members understand what awaits them.
* Lack of Authority 
There are chances that the project manager is given the responsibility but lack commensurate authority. In some cases, they are responsible for the work statement but have little or no control over the project's resources. Such kind pressure can result in actions like mischarging and set off the project instead of adhering to the established procedures and policies. 
Solution
The project managers should be given authority over the project's resources to avoid ethical transgressions due to unnecessary pressures.
* Short-Term Project, Long-Term Consequences
Some of the team members' decisions in short-term projects may cause long-term penalties (Catambay, 2017). Some decisions made by their team members like to change the scope or content of the product to meet immediate needs are likely to impact the supply chain another time. This circumstance raises safety and health concerns and can lead to ethical transgression. 
Solution
Project managers are required to raise the alarm whenever they come across any potentially harmful situation. The project managers should also consider applying a cloud-based project management resolution to tackle such issues.
Applicable Case Study
Jane was hired recently to be the project manager of Comet's largest construction project. The budget allocated for the project was $500,000 US. She had a working experience of 7 years and a PMP certification and had worked for two months. However, John, who was Jane's boss, realized that Jane was struggling to run the project. He had received several complaints that she was irresponsible in completing the project and had difficulties grasping the project's operations. John decided to offer some counseling to Jane and to give her some time to improve. However, John did not observe any improvement and dedicated making a call to PMI to confirm her credentials. PMI responded by saying that Jane was not on the PMP list. John becomes lenient and decided to give her some more time to improve. In 2 weeks, John received a call from two functional managers claiming that the project was collapsing. Later, John realized that Jane had lied about her credentials and that PMI had not registered her. So, she fired her. In this case, Jane had violated the value of honesty.
