Question One: Actions of an Effective Leader and Manager
Being an effective manager and leader calls for a boss to provide direction, guide and inspire, exhibit courage, and show commitment and confidence toward the employees. To demonstrate effectiveness in being a leader and a manager, a boss should vividly share their vision in bold letters. Sharing their vision shows he is sure about where he aims to go and how he seeks to do it with the entire team (DuBrin, 2022). Here, the boss articulates the vision passionately and ensures that all the employees who are part of the team understand. After sharing the vision, the boss should work towards it with tremendous enthusiasm and persistence that will undoubtedly encourage and inspire the rest of the team to get into action.
Another way to demonstrate effectiveness in being a leader and a manager is for the boss to always lead by example. Leading as an example will earn him respect and establish credibility (DuBrin, 2022). Most bosses will always demand a lot from their employees, yet they set meager standards for themselves. The result is usually a terrible failure seen through employee dissatisfaction and lack of trust and respect towards the boss. Therefore, a boss must ensure that their actions align with their words to motivate the rest of the team to follow the set example.
A boss should also demonstrate untainted integrity to be an effective leader and manager. Having integrity means that the boss upholds good values and uses them to guide his decisions and how he treats and deals with those around him (DuBrin, 2022). Therefore, a boss must have clear convictions on right and wrong and a good character that is seen through being principled, being consistently ethical, and communicating openly and honestly. Doing these things demonstrates that the boss is an effective leader and manager.
Question Two: Becoming a Passionate Leader
Passionate leaders inspire and motivate other people to become innovative and more goal-oriented. Becoming a passionate leader would require the person to develop a deep-rooted connection with their life purpose and business line (DuBrin, 2022). To become a passionate leader, the person may need to share their vision with others. They can do this by expressing and speaking about something that tickles their interest so that it can inspire the listeners to support them and embrace their vision. The person may also make a choice to get out of their comfort zones and engage with different people around them. Social interactions are increasingly becoming a necessity. Therefore, the person may choose to engage with different people and share their vision while showing off their enthusiastic spirit.
The person may also need to pay special attention to solutions rather than their problems. At all times, the person should uphold a positive attitude that seeks solutions and not one that complains and creates more problems. The person might also strive to be change-driven to become a passionate leader (DuBrin, 2022). Being change-driven means they are willing to take on new challenges and are optimistic that they will overcome them. Additionally, they are always seeking new improvement opportunities that will assist them in meeting their goals. The person may strive to uphold transparency and humility, sharing details on who they are and their passions. Opening up to others, especially within an organization, would motivate and encourage others to do the same. While sharing these details, they should be genuine and courageous enough to enquire about possible solutions to existing problems. These actions help the person to become a passionate leader.
