In order for a hospitality business to be successful, the management team must have a strong purchasing process which includes both selection and procurement. This process must be well-established in order to control costs and deliver the best possible products and services for its target customers. A strategic approach to purchasing process boosts the efficiency and profitability of a company (Stross, 2013). A company is supposed to centralize purchasing, have a plan for purchase, focus on quality, purchase goods locally, constantly negotiate and base the supply chain management on the real-time demand. Chick-fil-A is one of the American fast foods restaurant chains. The restaurant serves breakfast before its transition to the lunch and dinner menu.
The purchasing process is very important and is an essential part of the foodservice operation at Chick-Fil-A Restaurant. All the competent cooks are supposed to be skilled when it comes to appropriate ingredients, accurate amounts, time and the best price. The history of this restaurant stated in the 1940s when Truett Cathy opened a Dwarf House. This was two decade after the introduction of the first chicken sandwiches in the country. This was the recipe that was to open the first Chick-Fil in 1967. Chick-Fil-A has one of the best chicken sandwiches on the market (Jimenez, Pulos, & Open SUNY Textbooks, 2016). These sandwiches were created as a result of a poultry surplus in the economy. The brand frozen chicken made by the restaurant is never frozen because it arrives in the restaurant fresh and it hand breaded in site. The workers of this restaurant are also expected to use elevated language like "my pleasure" because it more courteous. Additionally, Chick-Fil-A has various locations in 47 States of the United States except for Alaska, Vermont, and Hawaii. In 2014 a contract was also signed whereby the owners agreed that the restaurant would remain private (Stross, 2013). Despite the fact that the name Chicken-fil-A illustrates chicken and fillet the capital letter A stands for top quality. The company has a magical sauce made by a mixture of honey mustard, ranch sauces, and barbecue. The restaurant has an expensive menu although it is an unofficial menu of tasty combinations. These items include a spicy chicken biscuit, a Buffalo chicken sandwich, cheese fries, grilled cheese, chicken quesadilla, and a root beer float among others according to Country Living.
The company has available customer seating of 1200 square meters excluding the bar seating. Additionally, there are 1200 out of 15 full-service restaurants that work out of 80 seats (Jimenez, Pulos, & Open SUNY Textbooks, 2016). For example, if customers prefer to choose a more compact layout, they can cut the space per each customer to 12 square feet to a full-service restaurant. The following specials are found on the menu of the restaurant’ chicken soup, kids meals, yogurt parfaits, chicken meals, chicken combos, and baked pot...
