Success in academic and professional settings depends on improving communication and teamwork abilities. Teamwork, adaptability, and interpersonal skills are vital in modern education and business. In this situation, people must be able to navigate varied perspectives, convey their ideas, and collaborate to achieve goals. This paper will reflect on my experience this year at Hult International Business. It uses classes 2–6 readings to investigate how individual behavior affects team dynamics, identify development opportunities, and propose six-month strategies for improving communication and collaboration. The paper tries to improve teamwork and leadership in dynamic contexts through reflection, analysis, and action. Part 1: Lessons Learned Being a Better Teammate One of my most significant learnings at Hult International Business School is the value of teamwork. Class 2 presentation stressed team members' different motives (Sullivan, 2022a). This insight has shaped my collaboration style. I now value and respect my teammates' ideas and aspirations rather than imposing my own. For example, I had a group assignment in Organizational Behavior where one person was always scared to speak up. Instead of ignoring their contributions or assuming disinterest, I invited them to talk. Through active listening and empathy, I learned they were nervous due to lousy team experiences. I built trust and inclusion by addressing their worries and offering help, encouraging them to participate more in team conversations. Class 3 examined Herzberg's Two Factor Theory and Vroom's Expectancy Theory (Sullivan, 2022b). These ideas illuminate the intricate relationship between intrinsic and extrinsic drives. I now customize my leadership style to my teammates' needs and aspirations by applying these notions to my team dynamics. For instance, I used Herzberg's theory to emphasize intrinsic motivators like recognition and personal improvement during a group retreat. I encouraged collaboration and innovation by recognizing and celebrating each team member's talents and efforts. Our project outputs were more productive and creative due to improved team morale and togetherness. Human and environmental impact Class 4 examined cross-cultural communication issues. This class helped me to understand cultural dynamics and how cultural diversity affects teamwork (Sullivan, 2022e). I learned from my experiences that cultural sensitivity and tolerance are essential to teamwork. I struggled with cultural differences and communication in cross-cultural negotiating simulation.
