Quantitative research is a study that is both empirical and systematic and uses computational, mathematical, and statistical techniques to investigate observable phenomena. By contrast, the deductive method is concerned with formulating a hypothesis based on the initial concepts. Following that, the hypothesis is investigated using a research approach developed by the researcher. Quantitative research seeks to test hypotheses by collecting and analyzing data (Brannen, 2017). Questionnaires, internet surveys, and sample procedures are all used to collect data. The quantitative data measurement method is critical to the research process because it establishes a link between the analytical expression of quantitative connections and empirical findings. Quantitative research uses a variety of methodologies, including cross-sectional surveys, correctional studies, descriptive studies, and quasi-experimental studies. This research will critically evaluate two quantitative publications that address the PICOT issue: What role does overtime work play in nursing tiredness when nurses work in acutely staffed health care facilities?
Background of the study
The contemporary nursing practice is overburdened with work as the need for medical services increases. Healthcare personnel is required to work long hours through overtime and extended shifts. The administration has little idea how these prolonged hours affect the nurses' well-being. According to Cho et al. (2015) study indicates a strong correlation between patient outcomes and demographic variables. South Korea has a dearth of research compared to other countries such as the UK, China, and the United States. Cho et al. (2015) investigate the impact of education, nursing staffing, and work environment on patient outcomes, particularly mortality, in South Korea.
On the other hand, when nurses work long hours, they grow exhausted and may suffer job-related injuries such as puncture wounds and needle-sticks. These injuries are common in nursing homes, and nothing has been done to avoid them. Safety measures are ineffective, necessitating more research into the risk factors for nursing injuries. Lo et al. (2016) conducted a study to determine whether or not chronic insomnia and lengthy work hours among Taiwanese nurses are associated with nurse injuries.

(2015) found that the nurse work environment substantially impacts patient outcomes by increasing mortality in South Korean health facilities, consistent with the findings of earlier studies conducted in other countries. The researchers examined nurse work environments by commenting on the nurses' work experiences and turnover. After barely one year on the job, nurses resign. This demonstrates that the workplace environment for nurses is undesirable, which may be a result of lengthy shifts and extra hours that place an undue strain on them.
