Philosophy of Teaching

Essay Instructions:
I have been chosen as the Teacher Of The Year for my campus. I am required to submit a philosophy of education essay. I teach reading on a middle school campus. The instructions for the paper are as follows- Describe your personal feelings and beliefs about teaching, including your own ideas of what makes you an outstanding teacher. Describe the rewards you find in teaching. How are your beliefs about teaching demonstrated in your personal teaching style? I realize this paper requires very personal responses. I got into teaching because I want to change my future and I see children as our future. I believe in teaching kids how to be better community members along with better students. I am passionate about reading and I want my students to become life-long readers and learners. I\'m always learning and strive to get better with each year that I teach. I bring in the latest and greatest YA literature to share with my students. I book talk books and show book trailers in my classroom and I\'m never too busy to talk about books with my students. Feel free to take these qualities and embellish as you see fit. The essay should be somewhat entertaining. It should set me apart from seven other candidates competing for the secondary teacher of the year. Frankly, I\'ve waited too long to get started on this paper and the deadline for submission is Thursday. I just don\'t have time to get it done along with the other candidate requirements.

My teaching loudly asserts that a teacher is a person who is not only excellent with the knowledge of places events and people, but the fundamentals of how it all came together. In my teaching, I ineradicably seek to infuse the psychology, the philosophy, the science the math and also the language together in order to present the three dimension on the issue or topic at hand. My teaching is constant in bringing out not only the "what and the where", but also the when and why. I consider this the hallmark of a good teacher.
I take many qualities that collectively espouse my skills as a teacher; I see what can be accomplished as opposed to what cannot be accomplished. I always elect to ensure that there is an attainment of fullest potential on the side of my students my creating an environment that is conducive one that demystifies risk taking and one that does not inhibit a one on one interaction. In recognition of the need to negate the likelihood of being mundane,...
